Tom Buoye, Director
Tom adopted Berkeley as his hometown when he attended UCB. After studying Engineering, he spent his career at UCB and Autodesk. Since the 1970's he has worked with Camp Unalayee as a Vehicle, Site and Facilities manager and serves on their Board of Directors. He is active in Berkeley's bicycling community.
Sarah Davis, Treasurer.
Raised in Berkeley, Sarah is a Research Project Manager at the Primate Research Center at UC Davis. She and her husband live in Davis where they have raised two sons. Sarah has a long history of civic engagement and work in her communities, in Davis and in Berkeley. She also works with Camp Unalayee, a nonprofit summer camp for youth.
Miriam Hawley, President
Miriam has a long history of civic engagement in and around Berkeley, where she raised four children. Some of that history includes serving as President of the Oxford School PTA; work with BART and the Metropolitan Transportation Agency; serving on the A/C Transit Board of Directors; as a member and President of the League of Women Voters of Berkeley, Albany and Emeryville; and as a Berkeley City Council member. She is now, after a couple of false starts, actually retired. She continues to be consulted to provide insight and input on transportation issues at the City, and County, and Regional levels.
Seena Hawley, Secretary
Raised in Berkeley, Seena raised two children and taught elementary school in San Jose. Returning to Berkeley in 2007, she substituted in BUSD middle school classrooms and as a school bus driver before taking a full time driver position in 2008.
Lois Brubeck, Director
Lois is an advocate for youth services and justice in Alameda County. She serves on the Alameda County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission. She lives in Berkeley. We are glad she chose to join our Board to share her insights, experience, and guidance as we grow.
Children's Activity Director Jessica Wheelis.
Jessica is a former Oakland Public Schools lower grade elementary teacher, she is enthusiastic about promoting and encouraging early and pre-literacy on all fronts: directly with children, creating and running engaging, language-rich activities at our PlayBook Groups, as well as through Parent education and training, and outreach to organizations that pursue and support young parents in efforts to foster early literacy. She holds a Masters in Science in Education as well as a California Teacher's Credential. We are very fortunate she's joined us, making PlayBook Groups a fun and enriching events for our participants. Photo soon!
